The Hurungwe Rural District Council is set to construct five state-of-the-art boarding schools and four clinics as the local authority pushes to transform the lives of people in its communities.
The projects are part of council’s targets after adopting government’s Results Based Development Strategy and Rights Based Development Approach.
These are also aimed at enhancing infrastructure and utilities development in 2021 are related to social development, water and sanitation, food and nutrition security, value addition and beneficiation, women empowerment, social services, poverty eradication, health and education.
Speaking after the Hurungwe RDC holding a strategic meeting for 2021, council chief executive Mr Luke Kalavina said they had resolved to establish five state-of-the-art boarding schools in various wards and four clinics in each of the 26 wards.
“The schools, which will accommodate both boarders and day scholars, will offer full information and communication technology (ICT) services.
“As we move forward in upgrading the district, we intend to establish five boarding schools with enough modern ICT equipment to ensure that children will keep abreast with changes in technology. تحميل لعبة الطاولة ”
Mr Kalavina said the establishment of boarding schools is expected to increase literacy rate, improve gender parity and quality of education in the district.
“The boarding schools will have facilities that cater for the physically challenged to promote inclusive education and to ensure that Zimbabwe contributes to attainment of Sustainable Development Goal Number 4.”
Council had also resolved to reduce distance travelled by scholars to health facilities by less than five kilometres by setting a target of four new clinics in each of the 26 wards.
The project will also see the completion of Vuti Clinic (Ward 4), Masikati Clinic (Ward 10) and Chiedza Clinic next month.
The Hurungwe RDC has also set an agenda to contribute towards the provincial economic growth with the establishment of more tobacco warehouses and floors in the coming year.
“These are estimated to contribute to three percent of Provincial GDP. We have also acquired a borehole rig from devolution funds so that we establish boreholes across the district,” he said. لعبة الاحجار الفرعونية
Among the projects set for 2021 include the setting up of a solar powered-piped water borehole and a nutritional garden in each ward to promote food and nutrition security.

“We are also working on the construction of small-to-medium enterprises that we hope would empower women in the district.
“We are going to partner with Zimbabwe Women Bank to ensure that women have access to loans. The Hurungwe RDC has already set aside a stand for the bank as well.”
Service delivery is also expected to improve in the coming year with Mr Kalavina saying council would buy new graders, a refuse truck, tippers; refuse compactor and dozers.
