National lockdown extended to February 15

Government has extended the Level 4 National Lockdown by another two weeks amid concern of new COVID-19 variants in Zimbabwe.

The lockdown would be reviewed on February 15.

Addressing the nation, Health and Child Care minister, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga also announced that government was finalizing a roll out plan and deployment strategy for the COVID-19 vaccine.

Chiwenga also said Zimbabwe has witnessed a surge in the Covi-19 cases with deaths now averaging 20 per day.

“We have a likelihood of new strains and variants circulating. These strains are more transmissible and infectious. تسجيل الدخول payeer We are doing genomic sequencing to see if these strains are in our environment and results will be published as soon as we have them,” he said.

“Government will soon be bringing in vaccines against Covid-19, a roll out plan and deployment strategy is being finalised and the nation will be kept informed on all these developments. نادى روما

Chiwenga said the Level 4 lockdown that came into force on January 5 had stabilized the situation in the country.

“In relative since the lockdown, the number of infections has been decreasing substantially. Equally, our recovery rate has gone up from an all-time low of 54 percent to the current one which is 75 percent,” he said.

He advised Zimbabweans to be vigilant at all times as the fight against the pandemic was still a long way to go. الربح من الانترنت في مصر

Chiwenga lauded the resilience shown by Zimbabweans and said the President was aware of the difficulties which come with the extension.

Zimbabwe had, as of January 28, 2021, a cumulative 32 646 confirmed COVID-19 cases with 1 160 deaths.
