Embattled former Zanu-PF Youth League leader Kudzanai Chipanga is lucky to be alive after he was attacked by nine armed robbers at his farm.

This was revealed by Chipanga’s lawyer Lovemore Madhuku during the former’s criminal nuisance case’s default enquiry on Monday.
The case was initially meant to be heard before Harare Regional Magistrate Hosea Mujaya, but Chipanga failed to avail himself. As a result, Chipanga was issued with a warrant of arrest.
Madhuku was applying for the cancellation of the warrant of arrest.
“The accused person was unfortunately attacked by armed robbers, nine to be precise at his farm.
“They destroyed several property including his car which he was supposed to use to come to court,” said Madhuku.
Madhuku said the default was not willful as his client has religiously attended court for two years, only to miss it on this particular day.

Prosecutor George Manokore said the State was not opposed to the cancellation of Chipanga’s warrant of arrest.

Chipanga along with former Zanu-PF officials Munyaradzi Hamandishe, Matthew Mleya and former Finance Minister Ignatius Chombo are accused of “criminal nuisance” for wearing the ruling party’s regalia in December 2018.
It is alleged that the quartet, well knowing they were expelled Zanu-PF as members, took photos of themselves wearing Zanu-PF party regalia in the form of hats inscribed ED and Kutonga kwaro.
