Harare – Zhengzhou Bus Zimbabwe (Private) Limited, trading as Zhongtong Bus Zimbabwe, has announced that it will suspend its business operations in Zimbabwe.
The decision takes effect from January 14, 2025.
The Chinese bus manufacturing company shared the news through a memo on its social media platforms. The notice read:
“Attention Valued Customers, this serves to notify you that Zhengzhou Bus Zimbabwe has suspended its business operations in Zimbabwe from 14 January 2025. On behalf of the Zhongtong management, we would like to thank all our valued customers for your continued support.”
Zhongtong Bus Zimbabwe has been a key player in the country’s transportation sector, supplying buses widely used by public and private transport operators. The announcement has raised questions about the company’s reasons for exiting the market, with social media speculating on potential factors such as economic challenges, operational costs, or declining demand as people opt to order directly from China
