The Zimbabwe Republic Police Anti-Corruption Unit has summoned prominent lawyer Thabani Mpofu for questioning.
According to the lawyer, Beatrice Mtetwa, the details of the meeting, held at Morris Depot, were still unknown and no charges had been preferred against the prominent advocate.
“We are with him at Morris Depot but there are no charges yet. We are just waiting for them,” she said.
Police have been looking for him though the reasons have not been clear.
Mpofu has represented the MDC Alliance led by Nelson Chamisa in various court cases, including the Constitutional Court challenge in which the youthful opposition leader unsuccessfully sought to overturn the election of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Chamisa, who is also an advocate, posted on his social media pages but could not divulge the charges.
“Just been informed that Advocate Thabani Mpofu presented himself to the police in the company of lawyer Beatrice Mtetwa after indications that the police were looking for him,” the opposition leader confirmed.
