President Mnangagwa has announced a National Lockdown Level 4 which would see all business operating between 8am to 3pm for the next fortnight.
According to reports, the measures would take effect immediately and would be reviewed after two weeks.
The measures include industry to decongest workplaces to 40 percent while all companies are directed to observe the WHO COVID-19 guidelines.
All commercial vehicles while remain running while inter-city movement will be prohibited except distribution of medications.
The President also said those deported back to Zimbabwe will be subject to quarantine while travellers with fake COVID-19 certificates will attract custodial sentence.
Ministers and legislators will be dispatched to their constituencies to educate people on the vaccination programmes.
“A COVID-19 vaccination blitz will be rolled out in the border towns and cities, tobacco auction floors, grain marketing depots, cotton marketing depots, major construction sites, people’s markets such as Renkini and all hotspots,” he said.
Zimbabwe has of late experienced a surge in the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases and death.
