August 3, 2014, has been declared a Global Day of Rage and Solidarity in response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis and alleged genocide in Gaza. The conflict has resulted in over 49,480 Palestinians killed or missing, 91,128 injured, and 2.2 million displaced, according to reports.
Palestinian detainees from Gaza and the West Bank are reportedly subjected to severe abuses, including murder, torture, and sexual violence by Israeli military forces. In Gaza, more than 3,300 individuals have been forcibly detained and taken to undisclosed locations. Additionally, over 9,600 Palestinians from the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, including 300 women and 635 minors, have been arrested.
Detainees are said to endure extreme conditions in cramped, unsanitary cells, often lacking basic necessities like food and water. Reports indicate that these individuals face severe torture and beatings designed to extract confessions. There are also troubling allegations that Israel has returned the bodies of deceased Palestinians without vital organs, raising concerns about potential involvement in illegal organ trafficking.
The ongoing Israeli military actions are in defiance of a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire. The international community is urged to condemn Israel’s actions and impose legal sanctions targeting diplomatic, economic, and financial relations. Calls are also being made to reactivate the UN’s special committee on apartheid to address Israel’s alleged apartheid regime and hold accountable those responsible.
Further actions proposed include suspending Israel’s membership in the United Nations and stripping it of its privileges and rights. This comes in response to what is perceived as Israel’s continued war crimes, including the targeted killings of Palestinian leaders, doctors, journalists, and UN workers. Critics argue that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government are prolonging the conflict to evade domestic legal issues while escalating tensions in the region, thereby threatening global peace.
Despite repeated UN calls for Israel to lift blockades, cease military operations, and end violence in Gaza and other occupied territories, Israel continues its actions with perceived impunity, supported by major financial and political allies, particularly the USA and other Western nations. These allies are criticized for their unconditional support, which many argue violates international law and fails to deter Israeli aggression.
In response to these actions, there is a firm assertion that the Palestinian people will continue to use all means available under international law to defend themselves against the occupation, emphasizing that Palestinians will not surrender or cease their resistance.
The Global Day of Rage and Solidarity aims to highlight these issues and mobilize international support for the Palestinian cause, advocating for justice and an end to what is described as the brutal occupation and systemic violence perpetrated against the Palestinian population.
