Ruwa Cop Arrested For Driving Without A License

Constable Kudakwashe Godzi (43) stationed at Ruwa Police Station, was off-duty and in police uniform when he reversed a Nissan Caravan and hit and injured two pedestrians along Simon Muzenda Street.

National police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed the arrest, saying the injured were rushed to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals where they are reported to be in a stable condition.

“The driver is a member of The Zimbabwe Republic Police and is not licensed to drive

“Investigations with a view to establishing the owner of the vehicle have since started,” he said.

“The officer is in police holding cells and the vehicle was impounded and taken to the Vehicle Inspection Department in Eastlea,” he said.

One of the victims, Pauline Madumbu (33) of Juru in Goromonzi, is a vendor and mother of four children

“I was admitted to hospital and I am in pain as I sustained a fracture on my leg and some bruises on my head. I was standing on the pavement when the mishap took place,” she said, while writhing in pain in her hospital bed.
