President Emmerson Mnangagwa has appointed Vice President Constantino Chiwenga to be the minister of Health replacing Obadiah Moyo who was accused of abusing Covid-19 funds
In a statement, the chief secretary to the president and cabinet said the VP was appointed with immediate effect.
Moyo was in June arrested and subsequently fired for allegedly awarding a tender for the procurement of covid-19 drugs to a company that is linked to the Mnangagwa’s without following proper procedures.
Presidential spokesperson, George Charamba said Chiwenga has a task to speedily stabilize, restructure and reform national healthcare delivery”.
“This is the second time the Vice President, who was a medic in the early days of the Liberation Struggle,” Charamba said,.
